Introducing the New Food as a Verb (Not a) Race Team

Sure, we made mistakes in the past. Attorneys won't let me say more.

If aliens were to arrive in the Scenic City, wondering a bit more about our world here in Little America, one place I would definitely take them?

The Chattanooga Chase.

The Memorial Day weekend race has become more Americana experience than actual road race. It's party + community + celebration that just happens to include a 5-mile-or-so run.

(Great design, Alex DeHart!)

Race director and Fast Break Athletics owner Alan Outlaw's an old and dear friend; every year, he works for months to pull off this testament to Chattanooga, veterans and community.

Really and truly, I've never seen a race-party like this one.

So, Food as a Verb has an idea:

We put together a race team before in the past. It was well-intentioned, then turned scandalous. Our trophy became tainted. (Attorneys won't let me say more. If you see Adam Webb, ask him about what happened. Just don't ask him for directions.)

So, this year, we're trying again: not a race team ... but a stroll team.

Join us at the Chattanooga Chase and show up as your true self: run, walk, stroll, who cares. The point isn't speed. The point is connection.

Introducing the Food as a Verb Stroll Team, the 2026 edition. Don't chase us. We'll Chase you.

You'll know us by our swag. Earlier today, I sent out a discounted merch code for all members of The Table. Hats, sweat-wicking tees, they'll be perfect for our race — sorry, stroll.

Don't worry if you've never run the course before. Or you're a 17-minute miler. Who cares. If you want, I'll run the whole thing with you, side-by-side, two peas in a pod, until you get sick of me.

Road races can feel intimidating; I get it. But our Food as a Verb spirit coupled with Fast Break generosity will scoop you up into the best race + party in Chattanooga.

Come join us.

After all, how can you not trust a face like this?

(No, he's not the alien.)
